Neurosarcoidosis presenting as an incidental solitary cranial ring-enhancing lesion

چکیده
Isolated neurosarcoidosis without prior systemic symptoms is extremely rare, occurring in approximately 2% of patients with neurosarcoidosis. Due to its rarity, mistakes in diagnosis and treatment occur commonly. We present a case of a 47-year-old female who was found to have an incidentally discovered solitary intracranial lesion that mimicked a high-grade neoplasm, but was later confirmed to be neurosarcoidosis. Incidental solitary neurosarcoid granulomas are difficult to diagnose due to its nonspecific clinical and imaging presentations. Early diagnosis by biopsy in these rare incidental cases remains paramount for adequate treatment.

Isolated neurosarcoidosis presenting with multiple cranial nerve palsies
BACKGROUND As an extremely rare subtype of sarcoidosis that develops exclusively in the nervous system, isolated neurosarcoidosis is difficult to diagnose. In addition, its exact clinical features are not known. CASE DESCRIPTION A 61-year-old man presented with right ear hearing loss, diplopia, and fever. Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging revealed mass lesions in the rig...

Sometimes is associated with pain and functional loss. Only a few cases have been reported. Case Report: We describe a case of an osteoid osteoma of the temporal bone (mastoid) in a 31-year-old woman pr...

The clinical and MR findings in an unusual case of gummatous neurosyphilis are reported. A 44-year-old woman suffering from diplopia and right-sided headaches was admitted. Physical examination and routine laboratory parameters were normal except for a third-nerve palsy. MR images revealed a contrast-enhancing lesion of the upper brain stem and third cranial nerve. Differential diagnosis includ...
متن کاملUnusual presentation of sarcoidosis: solitary intracranial mass lesion mimicking an intracranial neoplasm: a case report
Sarcoidosis is a multisystem disease of unknown cause and with a worldwide distribution. Involvement of the central nervous system occurs in a relatively small number of patients with sarcoidosis. Isolated neurosarcoidosis without signs of systemic disease however is a rare. In this report, we present an unusual case of neurosarcoidosis with intra cranial mass mimicking radiologically a glioma....
